Tomodachi Life: Living the Dream Will Release on Nintendo Switch This April
Nintendo has officially locked in the release date for Tomodachi Life: Living the Dream. The long-awaited life simulation game is set to launch on April 16, 2026, and the digital edition is now available for preorder at $59.99 on Nintendo Store. Notably, preloading is also supported, which means that players can jump in as soon as the game goes live.
Nintendo Store listing had confirmed that the game will be available on Nintendo Switch, with support across all major play modes. That includes TV mode, Tabletop mode, and Handheld mode, giving players flexibility in how they manage their island and its residents.
Tomodachi Life returns with deeper Mii customization
Tomodachi Life: Living the Dream builds on the series’ signature concept. Players populate an island with Mii characters, then watch what happens when they all live together. Miis can be based on friends, family, celebrities, or entirely original creations.
Nintendo says customization goes deeper this time. Players can update physical traits, personalities, and quirks, including new face customization options not seen in earlier entries. Those who prefer speed can also create Miis quickly by answering simple questions. Once done, Miis start forming relationships of their own. They chat, argue, fall in love, drift apart, and generally behave in unpredictable ways. The result is an island full of humor, drama, and surprises.
Island building, gifts, and online features confirmed
Besides relationships, players act as caretakers. That means giving Miis food, clothes, items, and advice as they navigate everyday problems. Over time, Miis may even adopt words and phrases taught to them.
Players can also design and shape the island itself, placing homes, shops, restaurants, and entertainment spots. Decorating interiors, gifting furniture, and customizing environments all play a role in keeping Miis happy.
Worth noting that the game has an estimated file size of 6.2 GB and supports Nintendo Switch Online, including Save Data Cloud. With preorders live and a spring 2026 launch confirmed, Tomodachi Life is shaping up to be one of Nintendo’s more charming releases this year.
