total war warhammer 3

No doubt many of you have already tried Total War: Warhammer 3 since its February 17 release. Fans of the series are absolutely thrilled with the game, even though it comes with some issues of its own.

Whether you choose to go on your own or enjoy some multiplayer gaming, Warhammer 3 will surely provide the entertainment and chaos you are looking for.

Without a doubt, multiplayer has been one of the biggest selling points of Total War: Warhammer 3, with simultaneous turns and up to eight players able to play at the same time.

However, some gamers have struggled while trying to play online and received a Failed to join the game. No response from host error.

How can I fix this error?

This issue most often occurs when players are playing on different platforms, meaning Steam players attempt to play multiplayer with Game Pass owners, and vice versa.

The quickest option to deal with this nuisance, for both players, is to play the game on the same platform. As for workarounds, you know how it is, modern times call for modern solutions.

Players have reported dealing with this issue in various ways, and each seems to have worked for some of them, while not for others.

One of these temporary solutions involved all players exiting the game until one creates the session they’re all about to play on. Note that this is only for PC players of Warhammer 3.

  1. Everyone of the involved parties must exit Wahammer 3.
  2. Let the host open it and create a game.
  3. Click Join Game directly from your friend list and let Warhammer launch and join like that.

On Steam, you can do this by right-clicking your friend’s name in your friends list. As for Game Pass, you can do this through the friends list on the Xbox app.

The other option you have is to make sure the Game Pass player hosts the game, as for some reason, there’s an internet optimization issue with Game Pass that causes them to struggle to connect to Steam games.

You can sometimes bypass this by making sure your version of Windows and Game Pass is fully updated to the latest version.

However, if both players are on the same platform and they’re still receiving this error, stop trying to use the Join with Code function altogether and use the guide above.

Before we conclude, we must remind you to make sure you have forwarded your ports, as sometimes, when playing on different platforms, one platform will use a different port than the other to connect.

Going the extra mile and making absolutely sure you have your ports forwarded will prevent this issue for the most part, so keep that in mind.
