Valve Adds FSR 4.1 Support to Steam Machine and Shares Reservation Queue Update

Valve has dropped yet another update for the Steam Machine, and it offers more than just software improvements. Alongside new AMD FSR support, the company has also shared fresh details about reservations, purchase emails, and when more customers can expect to secure the device.

FSR 4.1 arrives alongside official CAD files

After briefly exposing last month, Valve has finally added support for AMD FidelityFX Super Resolution 4.1 (FSR 4.1) through Proton Experimental (via VideoCardz). Games that already support FSR upgrades can now take advantage of the latest version, potentially delivering improved image quality and performance on compatible titles.

Valve has also released the official Steam Machine external geometry CAD files. The files are intended for users interested in creating custom accessories, cases, mounts, or other hardware projects around the device. Making the design files publicly available should also make it easier for modders and accessory makers to build products with accurate dimensions.

Valve says reservation queue is moving steadily

Speaking of availability, Valve says it is continuing to process Steam Machine reservations every day. Purchase emails are being sent in the order established after the company’s randomized reservation process.

The company expects everyone currently in the reservation queue to receive an opportunity to buy a Steam Machine before the end of this year. Buyers who receive an invitation email will have 72 hours to complete their purchase before the offer moves to the next person in line.
