Excel has a new Web connector and here are 2 features you should check out

Microsoft released a new Web connector to Microsoft Excel, according to the company’s latest blog post. For those of you who don’t know Web connectors in Excel allow users to connect Excel to websites and import data from those directly in a worksheet.

One of the best features of this tool is that it will auto-update: if the data from the websites suffers changes, then it will automatically update in Excel as well.

This tool has been in Excel for a while, but now Microsoft released a new and improved Web connector, and it comes with 2 new features that will ease the way users import web data into Excel.

Web connector on Excel: 2 new features you should check out

Suggested tables: Web connector now suggests and provides auto-detection of tables, which can greatly simplify work.

To use this feature, you need to:

1. Open your Excel, and create or open an existing project.
2. Once there, go to the Data tab, and click on it.
3. Type in the URL you want to extract the data from and click OK.
4. Excel will automatically suggest a list of tables with Suggested tables, as you can see in the image below.

Add a table using examples: the second feature allows users to provide examples of tables they prefer, and Excel will use AI to render similar tables that users can choose from.

To use this feature, you need to:

1. You need to extract data from the Web pages you’re visiting and using as a reference.
2. The feature will then provide you with an interactive page to place this data.
3. Once you click OK, Excel will then generate similar tables for you to put your data into.

The new features are a welcomed addition, considering Excel will also get Copilot in November, and the tool will also greatly ease workflow, and working with data.

Together with the new and improved Web connector, users will be able to create tables much faster.
