In the last few days, I have come across countless reports of users being unable to send messages in groups chats on Skype and being constantly kicked out. Even upon rejoining, they are automatically removed from the group within hours.
For some, the recent messages are not visible. Although it’s clear that these are not deleted, since users can manually search for them. Test messages to self are not going through. Besides, even recently read messages are automatically marked as unread.
All these bugs are present on the latest version of Skype, i.e., 8.119.0.201, as confirmed by users.
Typical workarounds like reinstalling Skype, clearing the cache, or switching network connections fail to work!
Microsoft is aware of the issue and is requesting users to share the logs, according to a post by Microsoft employee in the dedicated forum. You could do so from the Skype Insider App, which will prove the most helpful to Microsoft, or even use the regular Skype app.
To submit your Skype logs for assessment, click on the More icon (ellipsis) > choose Settings > go to Help & Feedback > select Report a problem on the right > explain the issue in detail > finally click on Send report with logs.
I recommend you send the logs to Microsoft at the earliest, so that the the bug can be analysed and a patch for it released alongside the next update.

Upon checking the forums, I found almost everyone on Skype version 8.119.0.201 facing a similar set of issues.
This recently happened. I can no longer send messages to group chats I am already added to. When I am added back then after a few minutes, the messages do not get sent.
I have already reinstalled the app on my desktop. I have the app installed on my laptop as well but have not reinstalled on that one. I also have uninstalled the mobile apps on my 2 Android phones thought it might be causing the issue.
Skype version is Skype version 8.119.0.201 on Windows 11 build 22631.3527
My messages can’t be sent, not to groups, not to myself, not to copilot.
I tried on all PC/Web/Android version of Skype.
Same issue with me. When you open the chat it loads the newer messages (or the person messages you) as unread so you have 99+ even after closing it and need to repoen it.
Since the bug has been acknowledged by Microsoft and they are working on a fix, I expect a patch to be out soon, and you should then be able to send messages to groups in Skype.
In case you have a small workforce, consider switching to a Skype alternative in the meanwhile.
