Windows 11 Is Testing a Dark-Themed Properties Dialog

Windows 11 dark mode improvements could soon extend to more parts of the operating system, addressing one of its most persistent visual inconsistencies.

Microsoft has gradually expanded dark mode support across Windows 11, but several legacy dialogs and interface elements still switch back to bright, light-themed designs.

Modern Properties UI Spotted in Windows 11

Rumors about a File Explorer Properties dialog overhaul appeared a few months ago, and the first version of the redesigned interface has now surfaced.

A hidden modern Properties UI has been spotted in Windows 11 Experimental Build 26300.8935. The interface uses a dark theme and follows the visual style of newer Windows 11 components.

However, the updated design currently appears only in the Properties dialog for deleted files. The standard Properties panel used for regular files and folders still displays the traditional light-themed interface.

Windows 11 Dark Mode Remains Inconsistent

Dark mode still does not work consistently across every part of Windows 11. Users can encounter light-colored dialogs even when they enable the system-wide dark theme.

Microsoft has not confirmed whether it plans to bring the redesigned interface to every Properties dialog. The company has also not broadly enabled the feature for Windows Insiders.

No Release Date Confirmed

Microsoft has not announced when the modern Properties interface will become available. The feature will likely require wider testing through the Windows Insider Program before it reaches public Windows 11 versions.
