Microsoft might soon release a couple of settings for WhatsApp and Spotify in Windows 11, focusing on resume/handoff support. Spotted by Windows Insider, @XenoPanther, the Redmond-based tech giant, released a string in 27793’s LXP, mentioning both apps.
“Turn resume on or off for Spotify” and “Turn resume on or off for WhatsApp”
What do these features mean?
Well, turn resume on or off for Spotify is a feature that allows you to control whether Spotify automatically resumes playing your music when you open the app.
For example, if you were listening to a playlist or song before you paused it, turning this feature on will make Spotify continue playing from where you left off. If you turn it off, Spotify won’t resume playback automatically.
Turn resume on or off for WhatsApp is a bit different. This setting controls whether WhatsApp syncs and updates your messages in the background.
When it’s on, WhatsApp will keep checking for new messages and notifications even when you’re not actively using the app. Turning it off will stop these background activities, which can help save battery life and reduce data usage.
For now, they’re just strings in the latest build to the Canary channel, but it’s clearly a sign that Microsoft wants to make Windows 11 more versatile and flexible for users.
