Microsoft recently released the latest build to the Beta Channel for Windows 11 users enlisted in the Windows Insider Program, and the patch added some interesting features to the operating system, including the new ability to drag-and-drop files from File Explorer to Desktop to share them across the Internet in just a few seconds.
Spotted by popular Windows Insider @phantomofearth, the new hidden ability allows users to drag the files to the top of Windows 11’s desktop, where a new panel will automatically open up.
This panel contains many options, such as Outlook, Microsoft Teams, Mail, and others, that let the user choose from and share the file.
The tech enthusiast shared on X (formerly known as Twitter) how this new feature looks intuitive. You can drag and drop the new panel and easily share the file on the preferred platform.
The feature is currently hidden, meaning Microsoft is not ready to release it yet, but you can enable it via ViveTool using the following commands:
vivetool /enable /id:45624564,53397005,48433719
Restart your computer, and you can use this new feature.
In other news, the latest build to the Beta Channel also introduces a new Game Pass Settings card for Microsoft to promote the service by offering Windows users special discounts. However, it might frustrate a lot of users.
What do you think about this new way to share files in Windows 11?
