The first Patch Tuesday updates for Windows 11 were released last week, and as always, even though they are mandatory (and you should install them ASAP), they have been causing a lot of issues.
On Windows 11 devices, specifically, these updates are stopping essential Dolby driver updates from being installed. Instead, Windows 11 users are being hit with the 0x8007013 Install Error, which basically stops the process.
On official Windows 11 forums, dozens of users have reported the issue, and Dolby drivers are mainly affected, which means this is a widespread bug.
Hello. I had a recent windows update on 15th January 2025. I have an update failure showing for – Dolby – SoftwareComponent – 3.30702.720.0 – Install Error – 0x8007013. Anyone else experienced this or any advise as to how to resolve? I have tried running the updates again but get the same result. Thanks in advance.
If you’re running into the issue, worry not. There is a solution to it. The 0x8007013 Install Error is quite typical, and Windows users may encounter it while trying to install or update their Windows operating system. The causes are various, including a virus, driver incompatibility, issues with Windows updates, and so on.
While there are many solutions out there, and you can fix the 0x8007013 Install Error by following our comprehensive guide, if you can’t install the necessary drivers even after many tries, you should download the official Microsoft Show/Hide tool.
This tool will hide the driver update, stopping Windows from trying to install the driver. You can download the tool here.
That said, you should always install drivers from the official manufacturer sites.
Let us know if it works for you.
