We know that Windows 12 is expected to roll out sometime in 2024. Now, Taiwan’s Commercial Times has reported a more specific launch window: June 2024. In its report Commercial Times states,

Microsoft Windows 12 will be launched in June 2024 and is expected to introduce a large number of AI technologies and become the leader in AI PCs.

But that latter point on AI PCs is of particular interest. Many are pointing to 2024 as a breakout year for AI PCs, such as Quanta Computer founder and Taiwanese billionaire Lin Baili (also known as Barry Lam). Baili commented while attending the Taiwan Medical Technology Exhibition on the recent AI boom, saying that “AI will continue to improve next year.”

Baili also suggested that the demand for AI PCs will surge next summer as Microsoft rolls out its next operating system. (The Commercial Times report did not give a source for its June 2024 release target for Windows 12 other than Baili’s comments). That date is a bit earlier than the H2 2024 mark many are expecting.

Baili adds that he intends for Quanta to be at the forefront both in terms of AI PCs and AI server technology, saying “it is a good opportunity” for the computing industry at large. The next iteration of Windows is expected to further leverage AI technology and expand its capabilities.
