Microsoft released the Windows 11 Insider Preview Build 26010 to the Canary Channel, as the last update to the Canary Channel coming in 2023, as reported by the Windows Insider team in their blog post.

However, updates to the channel will resume in January 2024, when the Redmond-based tech giant will try something different, at least when it comes to Windows Canary for Desktop Experience: this particular channel will be updated via Server Flights.

With Windows Server Preview Build 26010, we are introducing the ability to receive Server flights just like on client (desktop). Flighting will only be available for the Canary Channel and flights for Server will begin in early 2024 so you won’t receive any new builds until then.

It’s also worth mentioning that the updates to Windows Server will not be posted on the Windows Insider Program blog anymore, as Microsoft created another blog for this specific channel, and the company will regularly update the blog as it releases new builds. The blog can be found here. Make sure to sign it, if you want to get notified of the latest builds.

How to sign up for the Windows Server Flights updates

Signing up for the Windows Server Flights updates is fairly easy, according to Microsoft. Windows users just need to enroll their devices in the Windows Insider Program, and that’s it.

To do so, you’ll need to go to Windows Settings > Windows Update > Windows Insider Program. Type in your credentials, and enroll.

Once enrolled, choose the Canary channel, and you’re all set.Windows Server flights

You’ll be able to get the Server Flights updates.

The Redmond-based tech giant says it intends to release the same updates to both versions of the Canary channel, however, the time for these updates will be different.

Our intention is to flight the same builds as client (desktop) for Server flights but the schedule in which we release Server flights might differ slightly (for example – Server releases bi-weekly)

On the other hand, the latest package to the Canary build brought some important features to Windows 11. Copilot can be undocked, now, and Microsoft Store has a new UI allowing users to install apps and games while browsing.

Plus, Windows has finally blessed Notepad with some much-needed features, such as an Edit button, and a word count. This should easily make you want to use and enjoy the 40-year-old native Windows app.

These features will make it to the stable Windows 11 in the following weeks, along with the newly added capability of sharing files to your WhatsApp account through Windows Share. Microsoft added this feature in the latest package to the Beta Channel within the Windows Insider Program.
