Xbox Eyes Nintendo Switch Emulation, Ryujinx Reportedly Tops Discord Community Poll
There’s no denying that Xbox consoles have gradually earned a reputation for emulation. Now, the focus is shifting to something far more ambitious: the Nintendo Switch. According to the reporting by folks at Windows Central, the Xbox emulation community is eyeing a potential Ryujinx port for Xbox Series X|S. The popular Nintendo Switch emulator recently topped a community poll inside the Xbox Emulation Hub Discord, hinting at where developer interest is heading next.

If you’ve missed the context, Xbox hardware has already proven itself in this space. Through Xbox Dev Mode, users can run UWP apps that enable emulation for platforms like the GameCube, Wii, PlayStation 1, and PSP. Much of that progress comes from the Xbox Emulation Hub, which, as you may know, is a community-driven group focused on adapting emulators to Microsoft’s Universal Windows Platform that allows them to run across Windows and Xbox consoles.
That said, Ryujinx winning the poll doesn’t mean a release is imminent. There’s no official build yet, and development hurdles remain significant. But we can’t ignore the fact that the poll result suggests that Switch emulation is now the community’s top priority.
The team has also teased interest in Nintendo 3DS emulation, which would further expand Xbox’s unofficial emulation portfolio. It’s worth noting that emulation itself isn’t illegal. Legal trouble usually starts when copyrighted games, system files, or paid access enter the picture. Nintendo has aggressively pursued legal action in the past. So, it’ll be interesting to see how this project will be approached.
