XBOX Game Pass Comes to Linux and Steam Deck With Xodus Nexus
A new unofficial project called Xodus Nexus aims to bring XBOX games and PC Game Pass titles to Linux devices, including the Steam Deck and Steam Machine, without requiring Windows.
The community-developed project allows users to access supported games from their existing XBOX libraries and run them locally through Proton, rather than relying on cloud streaming.
How Xodus Nexus brings XBOX games to Linux
According to the project’s official documentation, Xodus Nexus lets users sign in with their Microsoft accounts to browse their XBOX libraries, access the XBOX Store, and install compatible games they own or can play through a subscription.
The project uses Proton, a compatibility layer that allows Windows games to run on Linux. This means supported titles can run directly on devices such as the Steam Deck without requiring a Windows installation.
Xodus Nexus also aims to support XBOX account authentication, cloud saves, and multiplayer features, although availability depends on individual games.
Microsoft does not officially support Xodus Nexus, so users may encounter compatibility issues or limitations.
Which XBOX games can run on Linux?
The project’s documentation lists several games as supported, including:
- Gears of War: E-Day
- Deep Rock Galactic
- Minecraft Dungeons II
- Forza Horizon 6
- No Man’s Sky
- Doom: The Dark Ages
- Sea of Thieves
However, not every XBOX game will work through Xodus Nexus, and compatibility may vary depending on the title and device.
The project could provide another option for Linux gamers who already own XBOX games or subscribe to PC Game Pass, particularly Steam Deck users who want to access more of their libraries without switching to Windows.
In other news, eight games are leaving XBOX Game Pass on October 31, while an XBOX strategy manager has admitted using AI and urged the gaming industry to be more transparent.
