Xbox Live Is Down Right Now; Microsoft Warns of Game Save Issues

Xbox Live appears to have ran into issues on Tuesday, February 17. Upon researching and investigating, it seems that the complaints started pouring in after 10AM ET (via Tom’s Guide). The ongoing issue has been confirmed by Microsoft on its Xbox Status page under “Games and gaming,” though the exact impact on consoles, cloud gaming, or other services remains unclear.

The staus page further shows a warning for syncing games. Players who haven’t backed up their progress may want to hold off on logging in until the issue is resolved. Early reports suggest the problem could affect multiple platforms, including Xbox consoles and cloud-enabled devices.

At the time of writing this, we also noticed spike of user reports on Downdetector. The numbers indicate widespread user impact, though Microsoft hasn’t shared a full timeline for resolution.

It remains to be seen for how long Xbox Live will remain unstable today, and whether there will be aftereffects for cloud saves or in-progress sessions. Users are advised to monitor the official Xbox Status page and avoid major updates or purchases until the system stabilizes.

In other news, Microsoft Teams experienced a temporary outage that disrupted access for some users, but the service has since been restored and is now operating normally. Microsoft has resolved the issue, and affected features are gradually returning to full stability.

This is a developing story…
