Xbox PC App Gets a Massive UI Redesign, Now Launches 60% Faster
Microsoft is giving the Xbox experience a much-needed speed boost across PC, web, and cloud gaming. The company says its redesigned Xbox PC app launches up to 60% faster, with several everyday pages loading noticeably quicker. The new experience also brings a clutter-free game library, improved search, and easier access to friends.
Xbox PC app gets faster launches and simpler navigation
The biggest changes are being rolled out first to Insiders in the Xbox PC app. Xbox Insiders can now try the redesigned experience, which Microsoft says launches up to 60% faster. Pages such as Home, Store, and Game Pass also load up to 50% faster. In-app windows are reportedly opening up to 65% faster. Microsoft says these improvements come from its internal testing, so actual results may vary depending on hardware, internet connection, and system configuration.
The update also makes the library easier to navigate. Users get simpler navigation, updated filters, and additional ways to organize their games. Microsoft has also moved friends and social features into the main navigation. This means players can check what friends are playing, start chats, and join parties more easily. Search is also getting an upgrade, with results covering games, installed titles, add-ons, and people.
Xbox Cloud Gaming gets a refreshed experience across more screens
Microsoft is also expanding its refreshed Xbox web experience beyond the initial Insider preview. The rollout will reach more players automatically over the coming weeks. Those who want to try it earlier can visit Xbox Cloud Gaming. One major addition is a new Library tab. It brings together games available through cloud gaming, whether players own them or access them through Xbox Game Pass. Users can browse, sort, and filter titles by recently played, genre, and input options.
Desktop mode also makes better use of larger displays. Players can choose dark or light themes, alongside five new high-contrast options. Meanwhile, Microsoft is also bringing the refreshed interface to supported TVs and VR headsets. The company wants players to have a familiar experience regardless of where they launch their games.
These changes are part of Microsoft’s broader effort to make Xbox feel consistent across devices. However, the PC improvements remain limited to Insiders for now. The company has not provided a specific public release date for the redesigned PC app.
