Microsoft is rolling out a new “press-to-talk” feature in its Copilot app for Windows, making it easier for users to interact with the AI assistant using voice commands. This update is currently available to Windows Insiders as part of version 1.25024.100.0.
Here’s everything new in this update
🔹 Voice Activation: Users can now activate voice input by pressing and holding the ‘Alt’ key and spacebar for two seconds. This triggers a small blue microphone overlay, signaling that Copilot is ready to listen.
🔹 Hands-Free Convenience: With this feature, users can talk to Copilot naturally and issue commands without navigating menus, making interactions faster and more intuitive.
🔹 Improved Accessibility: Adding voice input makes Copilot more accessible to a broader audience, including users who rely on voice-based interaction.
This update is part of Microsoft’s ongoing AI integration efforts to create a more interactive and personalized user experience. Microsoft has been enhancing Copilot’s voice capabilities and reasoning skills to make the AI assistant even more helpful.
Windows Insiders are encouraged to update their Copilot app to try the new press-to-talk feature. If you want to give Microsoft pointers on issues with the app or recommendations, you can do that in the Feedback Hub (WIN + F) under Apps > Copilot or directly within the Copilot app by clicking on your profile icon and choosing “Give feedback”.
