You’ll Soon Be Able to Report Messages Incorrectly Flagged as Threats in Teams
Microsoft is reportedly preparing to roll out a new safety feature in Teams that lets users flag messages that were mistakenly marked as malicious. The company first revealed the feature in September during a limited release, and it is now expected to reach all customers globally by the end of November 2025.
In a Microsoft 365 message center update spotted by Bleeping Computer, the company said Teams will allow users to report false-positive threat alerts directly from chats and channels. Microsoft wants users to give security teams clearer feedback and improve the accuracy of automated detection systems over time.
The reporting option will reportedly be available to organizations using Microsoft Defender for Office 365 Plan 2 or Microsoft Defender XDR. It will appear across all Teams clients, including Windows, macOS, Android, iOS, and the web.
When the rollout completes, the setting will be enabled automatically. Admins who prefer to manage it manually can do so through the Teams admin center or the Microsoft Defender portal.
Microsoft also detailed how administrators can adjust the control. They can open the Teams Admin Center, go to Messaging settings, navigate to the Messaging safety section, and switch on the “Report incorrect security detections” option before saving the change.
