YouTube Will Use Gemini AI to Create Custom Feeds From Your Prompts

YouTube will soon let users build their own recommendation feeds by describing exactly what they want to watch.

The new Custom Feeds feature uses Google Gemini to interpret natural-language prompts and generate personalized video feeds based on topics, moods, priorities, exclusions, and other instructions.

Each feed will appear in its own tab at the top of the YouTube homepage, alongside the platform’s existing Home recommendations.

Custom Feeds can get highly specific

Users will be able to create feeds for very specific types of content. For example, someone could ask YouTube for 30-minute video podcasts about a certain subject or songs that match their current mood.

More detailed prompts can tell YouTube which content to include, which videos to avoid, and which categories should receive higher priority.

YouTube says Custom Feeds should make it easier to explore its library of more than 20 billion videos without relying entirely on the platform’s standard recommendation algorithm.

YouTube’s main recommendation feed is staying

Custom Feeds will not replace YouTube’s normal Home feed. Instead, users will be able to switch between the default recommendations and their separate AI-generated feeds.

YouTube plans to start rolling out support for multiple Custom Feeds across web and mobile in October 2026.

The feature gives users more direct control over what YouTube recommends while still keeping the existing algorithm available.

In other Google news, YouTube Music is getting a smarter Ask Music feature, while a Google Gemini 4 release could be getting closer. Google has also been promoting the Microsoft Copilot app for new Googlebook laptops.
