online video-sharing platform

YouTube is an American online video-sharing platform primarily known for its ease to watch online videos, create, upload, and share your own work, to become an active part of this community.

It was created in 2005 by three former PayPal employees – Chad Hurley, Jawed Karim, and Steve Chen. One year later, Google bought and turned it into one of its subsidiaries.

YouTube uses Adobe Flash Video and HTML5 technology to display a wide variety of user-generated video content. This includes TV clips, music videos, funny science lessons, or educational content in general.
