8BitDo Launches Xbox-Themed Retro Mechanical Numpad for PC Users
Goes on sale May 6 for $44.96
8BitDo is expanding its Xbox-inspired desktop lineup with a new accessory designed for PC users who want both function and nostalgia. The company has introduced the Retro 18 Mechanical Numpad Xbox Edition, following recent Xbox-themed peripherals like the Forza Horizon 6 controller and headset.
A retro Xbox design with modern hardware
The new numpad leans heavily into the original Xbox aesthetic. It features a transparent green casing that mirrors the iconic console design, making it a natural match for the Retro 87 keyboard and Retro R8 mouse from the same lineup.
Despite the retro look, the hardware focuses on performance. The device includes 18 mechanical keys powered by Kailh Jellyfish X switches, paired with an aluminum plate and a hot-swappable PCB. Users also get double-layer ABS keycaps with a matte UV coating, along with full N-key rollover support for accurate input.
Multiple connectivity options and long battery life
8BitDo offers flexible connectivity across three modes. Users can connect via Bluetooth, use a 2.4GHz wireless dongle, or switch to a wired USB-C connection when needed.
Battery life stands out as a key highlight. The built-in 1,000mAh battery can last up to 160 hours on a single charge, making it suitable for long sessions without frequent recharging.
More than just a numpad
The Retro 18 does more than standard input tasks. It can function as a standalone calculator, thanks to its built-in LED display. A dedicated shortcut also lets users quickly launch the Windows calculator app.
Customization comes through support for 8BitDo Ultimate Software V2, which allows firmware updates and key remapping.
