After YouTube debuted AI features to the platform that will help with summarization and video content, while also providing insight with a conversational AI, the company is debuting a new AI tool called Dream Track.
According to their latest blog post, Dream Track is a tool that will let virtually anyone generate personalized soundtracks for Shorts using real stars’ voices.
Several celebrities lend their voices, including starts and singers such as Alec Benjamin, Charlie Puth, Charli XCX, Demi Lovato, John Legend, Papoose, Sia, T-Pain, and Troye Sivan, in a fashion similar to Meta’s AIs, announced in September, which also uses celebrities’s likeness to create AI avatars.
With our experimental feature called Dream Track, we’re testing a new way for musical artists and fans to connect through Shorts. Even though Dream Track is in its very early days, we’re excited about the potential that this experiment (and AI in general) offers.

How does Dream Track work?
For now, YouTube has given a small group of select US creators the chance to create Dream Track-rendered soundtracks of up to 30 seconds for their Shorts videos.
To create a personalized soundtrack for a Shorts video with Dream Track, users will need to type an idea into the creation panel. That will offer a list of participating artists, mentioned above, that users can choose from.
Dream Track will then render the soundtrack for the Shorts video using an AI-generated voice of that artist. It will take seconds, and many artists who have signed up for this experiment, think that the tool is a game changer.
However, there are some points to be taken into consideration:
- Shorts using Dream Track soundtracks will follow the same monetization policies as Shorts with music.Â
- Shorts with Dream Track-generated soundtracks can’t be downloaded.
What do you think about the new Dream Track tool?
