Why should you care about the iFixit repairability score?
The iFixit repairability score highlights how easy it will be to repair the laptop. The higher the score, the easier it would be!
Devices with higher scores tend to have a simpler design, easy component replacement, and sufficient information from the manufacturer to facilitate third-party repair. This increases the life span of the device by a few years.
Besides, you won’t be forced to contact the manufacturer for every hardware issue, thus saving a significant amount in the long run. Third-party repairs are both quicker and cheaper!
Ever since the right-to-repair movement gathered momentum, we have become more careful with our choices, especially when it comes to expensive electronics like mobiles and laptops. And it makes sense. If you are spending $1,000-1,500 on a device, it should last 5-7 years.
Experts recommend you go for devices with an iFixit repairability score of 7 or higher.
