It’s the never-ending cycle of technology, and Microsoft’s solutions aren’t any different. Out with the old, and in with the new! About a week ago, The Exchange Team posted a blog marking the one-year countdown for Exchange Server 2007. As of next April, the server will cease to be supported.

Users are being advised to start planning a migration to one of the more recent servers. Customers can use the option to upgrade via mailbox move to Exchange Server 2010, Exchange Server 2013, Office 365, or the more current Exchange Server 2016. While the expiration date for Exchange 2007 doesn’t leave many options, there is a large list of benefits including better collaboration, smarter inbox, mobile productivity, simplified architecture, and expanded security and compliance compared to its predecessors.

If none of those options seem appealing, Office 365 makes transitioning easier through Microsoft FastTrack. FastTrack is a customer service that works with the user to assess, remediate, enable, and migrate eligible services for customers with 50 seats and above.

For more detailed information on how to begin the process of migrating your messaging infrastructure, the blog post has links for each specific option.
