Dell launches a super-powered and redesigned XPS desktop with Windows 11

Dell has launched a new performance-first desktop carrying the XPS badging. The new XPS desktop will be coming later this fall, starts at $919, and includes options for 12th generation Intel Core i9 processors, Nvidia RTX 30 Series GPUs, or AMD Radeon RX GPUs. It also comes shipped with Windows 11 Home or Pro pre-installed.

Compared to the previous generation, the new XPS desktop is designed to help you expand your creative possibilities and even gaming options. It has a physically bigger chassis, which enables bigger and better graphics cards. Dell notes that the tower itself is now 42% larger than before, which allows for improved airflow, and liquid cooling for better performance.

Under the hood, the XPS desktop comes with options for up to the 12th generation Intel Core i9-12900K processor, up to Nvidia’s GeForce RTX 3090, or AMD Radeon RX 6900 XT Graphics. The RAM is also DDR5, which has a faster clock speed than DDR4. Dell is including options for up to a 750w power supply, which can support up to 350W graphics, PCIe5 graphics, four storage bays, and three PCIe expansion slots.

There’s an optional “Creators edition” available which includes optional NVIDIA Studio drivers. The new XPS desktop ships in two color options. There is one model with a Night Sky resin front bezel with aluminum sides and rubber feet. The other model is Platinum Silver and comes with an aluminum bezel and sides plus a mineral white resin base with aluminum feet.

Alongside the XPS desktop, Alienware also revealed the new Aurora R13 and Ryzen Edition R14, powered by Intel and AMD processors. These gaming desktops offer tool-less entry, and Dell says it’s one of Alienware’s most accessible and upgradable desktops to date. These Alienware desktops have the new curvaceous Legend 2.0 chassis, which has an open-air design to increase performance. Unlike the XPS desktop, these are now available, with pricing starting at $1,480 on the R13, and $1,250 on the R14.
