Windows 11 Release Preview KB5037853 brings a slew of improvements and fixes

Yesterday, Microsoft released Builds 22621.3668 and 22631.3668 under update KB5037853 for Windows 11, version 23H2 and 22H2, respectively. Notably, this update is available to devices enrolled in the Release Preview Channel.

The latest update includes various improvements for the existing features and non-security fixes. The first notable change brought in by the KB5037853 update is it rolls out the PC Manager app for devices in China.

Major improvements coming to Settings app and Windows Share via Windows 11 KB5037853 update

Settings app changes

Microsoft has added a new Linked devices page in the Settings app through which you can easily manage PCs and Xbox consoles. Home and Pro editions users can only access this page by going to Settings > Accounts if they sign in to Windows using a Microsoft account.

Besides, the KB5037853 update rolls out a new Add now button to the Accounts page in the Settings app of Windows 11. You can use the option to add a recovery email address for your Microsoft account if you haven’t already.

Windows Share improvements

There are many improvements added to the Windows Share interface via the Windows 11 KB5037853 update. Now, clicking outside the Windows Share interface won’t close it. Rather, you need to manually click on the Close button at the top right to exit the Share window.

Additionally, you can now directly share to certain Microsoft Teams channels and group chat from within the Share interface. However, you should sign in using Microsoft Entra ID to do so.

That’s not all, the KB5037853 update for Windows 11 also enables you to send emails to your own email address linked to the Microsoft Account without leaving the Windows Share interface. Moreover, you can also create QR codes for web pages as well as cloud files in the Windows Share via Edge browser.

Improvements added to the Start menu, File Explorer, and Sync Settings

Start Menu new account manager

Windows 11 KB5037853 update further rolls out a new account manager in the Start Menu. The new option added to the Start Menu will remind users to back up their files and provide alerts for the cloud and any action needed for the user’s account.

Changes coming to File Explorer

You can now use a mouse to drag files between breadcrumbs in the File Explorer’s address bar. For the uninitiated, a breadcrumb specifies the patch to your current file location in the address bar.

Updates coming to Sync settings

By updating to Windows 11 Release Preview KB5037853, you can back up many of the sound settings. To do so, you’ll need to enable the Remember my preferences option. And, select checkboxes for Personalization and Other Windows settings.

You can find all those in the Windows backup settings under Accounts in the Settings app. Besides, you can sign in to your Microsoft Account in the Windows Backup app which saves backup to your account.
