baldurs gate 3 mod tools

Baldur’s Gate 3 has been an extremely successful game, and rightfully so. Even after the release, Larian Studios continued to release new content and update the game.

Speaking of which, the company has announced the next major update that will bring the official modding tools for the game.

Modding tools for Baldur’s Gate 3 are coming later this year

As Neowin writes, Larian is working on modding tools for the game that will allow players to create their adventures.

With these tools, you’ll be able to test your mods in the game and get access to internal assets, including visual models, textures, UI, etc. This will allow you to customize them as you see fit.

Once you’re done, you can publish your mod via editor to mod.io servers where it will be moderated and visible in the game browser. Of course, you’ll be able to pack your mod locally and share it on third-party sites.

Modding tools will be released in September, and the closed alpha test is currently taking place, with closed beta coming in July.

As for availability, these tools will be available only on PC, but the ability to download and play mods will come later to other platforms.

It’s worth mentioning that Larian is moving away from the game, but Baldur’s Gate 3 will get a sequel, probably made by another developer.

This isn’t the only game that is getting a modding tool, and the Witcher 3 REDkit mod is already available.
