Windows 11 Insider Preview Build 26120.2415, KB5046723, has an interesting new feature for Windows Insiders: Windows Recall.
After being delayed many times, Recall is now in preview for Snapdragon-powered Copilot+ PCs in the Dev Channel. It comes with a companion feature called Click to Do.
Recall is an intelligent search feature that learns your habits, interests, and preferences to help you find stuff on your PC more quickly. With the help of the AI capabilities of Copilot+ PCs, the feature can help you retrace your steps to find and get back to any app, website, image, or document just by describing its contents. You can also browse a timeline to find something you did in the past.
KB5046723 also brings Click to Do, which lets you interact with content in an image or snapshot to “get more done.” For instance, if you’re in an app and you take a snapshot of some data, you can use Click to Do to copy the data directly to your clipboard, open the app in another window, or send the data to a friend in an email.
The feature can recognize text and images and offer AI-powered actions—like copying text to your clipboard or sharing a photo with others. Click to Do can also provide matches for a visual search or erase objects from an image.
Recall and Click to Do can be used with the Windows Snipping Tool, Office Lens, the Print Screen keyboard shortcut, Ctrl + C and V, and the Win + Shift + S keyboard shortcut.
Currently, Recall is available to Windows Insiders in the U.S., U.K., Australia, Canada, India, and Mexico who use English, French, German, Spanish, Chinese (simplified), or Japanese as their display language. Recall and Click to Do are available only to Windows Insiders in the Dev Channel who have opted in to receive updates.
It’s important to note that the version of Recall and Click to Do released today is a preview; not everything might work as expected. As Microsoft points out in a blog post, the Recall and Click to Do models will begin downloading in the background after you install Windows 11 Insider Preview Build 26120.2415, which might take some time.
Meanwhile, the Recall experience can be accessed from the Start menu, and you can configure settings — for example, whether Recall saves snapshots and the amount of disk space Recall can use — from the Privacy and security section in the Settings app.
Microsoft says that Recall and Click to Do will first be available on Copilot+ PCs powered by Snapdragon—but not all at once. The features will roll out to some Copilot+ PC owners first and then expand to more users in the coming weeks.
Microsoft says Windows Insiders on AMD—and Intel-powered Copilot+ PCs will also receive Recall and Click to Do support in the future. The company plans to bring the features to more regions and languages later.
To get started with Recall and Click to Do, you’ll need to KB5046723, which Microsoft is rolling out now to Dev Channel Copilot+ PC owners through Windows Update.
