Microsoft 365 outage affected Teams and Outlook users

Microsoft can’t catch a break as the Windows 11 24H2 is riddled with new bugs discovered almost every day. However, a much bigger concern was the recent outage affecting Microsoft 365 users using Teams and Outlook.

Microsoft has issued a long thread with updates on their X Microsoft 265 Status account acknowledging issues affecting Microsoft Teams and Outlook users.

More than 5,000 users reported issues with Microsoft Teams and Outlook outages on Downdetector and the problem lasted for many hours until Microsoft reported that they have managed to address the issues and restored the functionality for most services.

However, according to their latest X post, Microsoft is still working to restore the Outlook web version functionality for some users.

The Service Status portal for Office still shows that there are some issues with Microsoft 365 consumer services.

This outage was one of the longest and most important outages since the CrowsStrike-Microsoft incident and although Microsoft pushed hard to fix it, the mitigation was slow, affecting many organizations.

If you’re using Outlook for web, try using the desktop app or rely on a different email client for now.
