Microsoft opens the Stream your own game for Xbox Insiders

Xbox Cloud Gaming is finally opening up to streaming your owned games on the platform. Microsoft has been teasing this feature since the start of the year and according to a recent announcement, the change was supposed to be active starting next year.

Well, Microsoft decided to fill some gamers’ socks with this surprise just before Christmas. According to the most recent Xbox Wire announcement, if you’re an Xbox Insider using the Xbox Cloud Gaming (Beta), you can start streaming your game from your Xbox Series X|S and Xbox One console.

How does Stream your own game works?

Xbox Insiders who are also Game Pass Ultimate members can now stream select games they own beyond the Game Pass catalog on their consoles in the 28 supported countries where Xbox Cloud Gaming (Beta) is available.

However, this is only a drop in a bucket right now because you can’t just stream any of your owned game. Microsoft published a list of the games you can stream.

The Xbox Insiders will find the feature called Stream your own game on their consoles. If the game is playable through the new feature, the game icon will have a green cloud badge next to it. Then, they will be able to play the games on other devices such as smartphones, PCs, and tablets by using Play with Cloud Gaming option on the Xbox Cloud Gaming (Beta) app.

This long-awaited feature will save you a lot of time and storage space because you won’t need to download the game on other devices. However, you will play it straight from the cloud so you will depend on the bandwidth and speed of your internet connection.

We remind you that the Stream your own game feature is now only available for Xbox Insiders and Microsoft didn’t issue a date for the general channel availability. Nevertheless, the whole point of releasing it to the insiders is to test it before the big push to all Xbox gamers.

What do you think about the new Xbox streaming feature? Let’s talk about it in the comments below.
