Windows 11’s Settings app has come a long way since the operating system’s launch four years ago. Microsoft has steadily migrated features from the classic Control Panel to the more modern and streamlined Settings interface.
In the latest Windows Server build 26376 for insiders, some exciting updates have surfaced. Phantomofearth posted on X that additional mouse settings have been moved from the Control Panel to the Settings app, making it less likely you’ll need to use the old Win + R > control command.
Newly added mouse options include the ability to enable the mouse indicator (which helps locate the cursor by pressing the Ctrl key), adjust pointer trails and their size, enable cursor shadow, and even customize pointer images individually. Microsoft has also refreshed icons for existing settings like cursor speed and enhanced pointer precision, giving the app a fresh, cohesive look.
Obviously, Microsoft wants to create a unified, user-friendly experience in Windows 11. It’s still a bit strange why you still need to go to the old Control Panel for some features when they can be embedded into Settings.
Anyway, these mouse settings are only accessible in Windows Server build 26376 for insiders, so you won’t see the options on a stable build.
