Steam Deck LCD replacement battery prices have climbed again, with iFixit now charging $179.99 for the genuine Valve battery alone.

The increase comes shortly after iFixit managed to secure a new supply of Steam Deck batteries. The official Steam Deck LCD battery now costs $179.99, while the complete Fix Kit costs $184.99.

Both options are currently listed as available through iFixit.

Steam Deck LCD battery price has increased 125%

The genuine Steam Deck LCD replacement battery originally sold for $79.99. At its current $179.99 price, the part has increased by $100, representing a 125% price increase.

The pricing looks even more unusual when compared with the battery used in the newer Steam Deck OLED.

The genuine Steam Deck LCD battery offers 40 Wh of capacity and costs $179.99. By comparison, the genuine Steam Deck OLED battery costs $79.99 and provides 50.08 Wh.

That means the LCD battery costs $100 more while offering roughly 20% less capacity. The Steam Deck OLED Fix Kit also remains considerably cheaper at $84.99.

A cheaper Steam Deck LCD battery is still available

Steam Deck LCD owners do have a less expensive option.

iFixit continues to sell a $79.99 replacement battery for the LCD model. However, this version is an aftermarket component rather than a genuine Valve OEM battery.

The $179.99 option specifically carries identification as a genuine Valve component supplied through the official Steam Deck supply chain.

Neither Valve nor iFixit has publicly explained why the price of the genuine LCD battery has increased so sharply.

The growing difference between the genuine LCD and OLED battery prices could make the aftermarket option more attractive to Steam Deck LCD owners who need a replacement but do not specifically require an official Valve component.

In other Valve news, the company recently warned Steam hardware customers about a data breach, although the incident affects only customers who purchased Steam hardware.

Meanwhile, another piece of Valve hardware may be getting closer to launch, as a recent developer comment suggests the Steam Frame could be released soon.
