This New Script Lets You Disable Most AI Features in Windows 11
Microsoft’s aggressive push toward AI features across Windows and its wider ecosystem has started to frustrate a growing number of users. Copilot recently appeared in Apple App Store release notes and even landed on LG TVs, signaling how far Microsoft wants AI to spread. For many Windows 11 users, that push crossed a line, and some now want full control over what runs on their PCs. A new community-made tool aims to deliver exactly that.
How Does the RemoveWindowsAI Script Work?
A GitHub user known as zoicware has released a script designed to remove Windows 11 AI features at a system level. Instead of hiding toggles or disabling surface-level options, the tool goes much further. It disables multiple AI-related registry keys, removes associated files from the operating system, and blocks AI components from returning through future Windows updates.
What AI Features Does it Disable?
The script targets a wide range of AI-powered features built into modern Windows 11 releases. These include Copilot, Recall, Input Insights and typing data collection, Edge Copilot, Image Creator in Paint, AI Fabric Service, AI Actions, AI-powered Settings search, Voice Access with AI voice effects, and other Paint AI tools. For users who want a more traditional Windows experience, the list covers most of Microsoft’s recent AI additions.
However, the tool does not disable everything. Gaming Copilot and OneDrive AI features remain untouched, likely due to deeper integration or different delivery mechanisms.
While the script has impressed privacy-focused users, it comes with clear risks. Modifying the Windows registry and removing system components can cause instability, break future updates, or introduce unexpected behavior. This tool targets advanced users who understand the consequences and accept responsibility for potential issues.
The growing popularity of this script highlights a wider sentiment: many Windows users want choice, not enforced AI. As Microsoft continues to expand AI across platforms, resistance from power users appears to grow just as quickly.
