Microsoft Sneaks Copilot Promotions Into iOS App Store Release Notes
Microsoft found a new way to promote Copilot, and this time it happens inside Apple’s App Store listings. Windows Latest noticed that Microsoft apps on iOS now include Copilot-generated promotional lines in their What’s New sections, even when the update itself has nothing to do with the AI assistant.
Microsoft Now Promotes Copilot in App Store Change Logs
This move follows other aggressive Copilot pushes, including Microsoft Copilot being automatically installed on some LG TVs with no uninstall option. Now, instead of using ads or in-app pop-ups, Microsoft embeds a short line at the bottom of release notes saying that the notes were generated by Copilot.
Reports suggest this line has appeared in changelogs since May, regardless of how minor the update is. Apple’s App Store rules do not restrict this kind of messaging, so the promotional tag won’t be removed unless Microsoft decides to change strategy.
This method increases Copilot’s visibility among iPhone users without needing paid promotion. Some users view it as clever marketing, while others see it as a cheap tactic that takes advantage of App Store listings.
