Google announces Gemini-powered Google TV features ahead of CES 2026
CES 2026 will officially kick off tomorrow, but Google has decided to step in early with an announcement focused on Google TV users. In an announcement from earlier today, Google mentioned that it has previewed how Gemini will enhance the Google TV experience.
The company explained that Gemini will help users interact with their TVs more naturally across a wider range of brands and devices, including projectors. First and foremost, Gemini will now focus on offering visual responses based on user queries. In short, it means you’ll see relevant images, videos, and real-time sports updates directly on the TV screen.
The company mentions that features like “Deep dives” can break down complex topics into narrated overviews designed to be easy for the whole family to understand. That’s not all; Gemini will now integrate deeply into Google Photos. Thanks to the integration, you’ll now be able to search personal photo libraries using natural language. For example, you can ask Gemini to find photos of specific people, pets, or moments without manually scrolling through albums.
Google is also focusing on the creativity part, as it mentions that the new Photos Remix feature will let you apply artistic styles to images or turn memories into cinematic, immersive slideshows that can be enjoyed on the big screen. In addition, using the Nano Banana image generation model and Veo video generation model, you’ll also be able to reimagine photos or create original media directly on your TVs.
If you ever find it hard to fiddle with TV settings, Gemini will come in handy for you. You can prompt the AI assistant using natural language, and it will help you optimize audio, brightness, and much more. All that said, it’s important to note that the Gemini-powered Google TV experience will roll out first to TCL-branded devices, with support for additional Google TV models expected in the coming months.
