Telegram has released a new update that introduces Welcome Messages for chats.

Chat owners can create messages that appear only when new members join. These Welcome Messages can include several messages, media, rich formatting, tables, and inline content.

Admins can use the feature to explain community rules, provide important links, or guide new members through a chat without repeatedly posting the same information publicly.

Interactive buttons turn messages into mini apps

Telegram is also giving developers more control over interactive messages.

Developers can now place multiple buttons directly inside text message bubbles. This allows mini apps to deliver more functionality without requiring users to leave the message.

Telegram says developers can use the new system for interactive surveys, quizzes, games, and other experiences.

The change could make bots and mini apps feel more integrated into regular conversations instead of appearing as separate experiences.

Telegram expands its rich text editor

The rich text editor also supports more types of inline media.

Users can place documents, files, and music directly inside blocks of text instead of attaching them separately below a message.

This gives users more control over how longer posts and information-heavy messages appear inside Telegram.

Older Telegram versions will prompt users to update

Telegram is also changing how older versions of the app handle unsupported features.

When an older Telegram version cannot display something introduced in a newer release, users will see a placeholder instead.

That placeholder will include a button that takes them to the latest Telegram version, making it clearer why certain content cannot appear correctly.

Telegram Marketplace gifts get more personal

Telegram has also expanded customization options for Marketplace gifts.

Users can now add a signature and comment when sending gifts. Rare collectible gifts purchased with Telegram Stars can also be personalized before being sent to someone else.

The update arrives as messaging platforms continue adding more communication and personalization tools.

WhatsApp recently introduced smarter polls and improvements for group chats and replaced its six-digit two-step verification PIN with alphanumeric passwords.

Meanwhile, ChatGPT can now create custom stickers that users can share through messaging apps such as iMessage and WhatsApp.
