Rockstar’s GTA 6 Team Questioned AI Use, Tribunal Documents Reveal
Gamers aren’t embracing AI, and not that long ago, Expedition 33 director issued a statement on AI use in their game. The latest example comes from Rockstar Games, where a leaked UK tribunal document suggests internal unease about generative AI during the development of GTA 6.
UK tribunal leak reveals internal AI concerns at Rockstar
According to NotebookCheck, the leak emerged from a legal dispute involving former Rockstar employees. In tribunal materials, a dismissed staff member raised concerns about how Rockstar might approve and use generative AI tools, pointing to uncertainty inside the studio rather than a clearly defined AI strategy.
The UK tribunal rejected interim pay requests from the fired employees, but the case exposed more than employment details. The dispute references conversations held in a Discord server run by the Independent Workers of Great Britain (IWGB), where employees discussed workplace conditions and broader industry issues.
Rockstar disputes GTA 6 leaks while executives downplay AI impact
Rockstar argues that confidential information surfaced in that Discord group, including alleged GTA 6 leaks mentioning features such as a possible 32-player multiplayer mode. The company claims these discussions involved internal details that should not have left the studio.
Despite the internal concerns, top executives continue to minimize AI’s creative role. Take-Two Interactive CEO Strauss Zelnick has stated that generative AI will not replace human creativity in GTA 6, describing it instead as a support tool.
Across the wider industry, developers remain cautious. Many worry that AI could affect jobs by handling quality assurance, debugging, or asset creation. For now, Rockstar keeps its AI plans closely guarded, leaving fans and developers to speculate how, or if, generative AI will influence GTA 6’s development.
In other news, some GTA 6 leaks might be true, judging by Rockstar’s recent statements online.
