Bethesda’s Fallout 3 and New Vegas Remakes/Remasters Reportedly Not Releasing Anytime Soon

If you’ve been holding out hope for surprise shadow drop of Fallout 3 or Fallout: New Vegas remakes/remasters, it’s probably time to reset expectations. That’s according to Jez Corden, who, in his report for Windows Central, notes that both projects do exist internally, but neither is anywhere close to release.

Don’t Expect Fallout 3 or New Vegas Remakes Anytime Soon

In other words, don’t expect Bethesda to quietly drop either remake/remaster anytime soon. That said, Corden notes that when these projects eventually surface, Fallout 3 is likely to release before the New Vegas. So, what’s Bethesda working on , you may ask, right? Well, the studio is reportedly actively developing Fallout 5.

To catch you up, Todd Howard previously hinted that the next mainline entry is designed to keep players engaged for hundreds of hours. The game is also expected to connect with the Fallout universe, including the latest TV adaptation.

Meanwhile, the franchise hasn’t exactly gone quiet. Fallout 4 recently received a sizable update. The rumors around Fallout 3 and New Vegas shadow dropped reportedly surface online after fans spotted some Steam enteries for both Fallout 3 and New Vegas were missing. However, Corden mentions those activities are “due to updates for localized versions of the existing games, and aren’t to do with any impending “shadow drop” for Fallout 3 and New Vegas remakes / remasters.”

Bethesda reportedly also has some other works in process

On the live-service side, Fallout 76 remains a major focus. The game is set to receive a current-gen upgrade this year, alongside ongoing content updates such as Burning Springs. Howard has even stated that Fallout 76 is currently where much of the studio’s effort is concentrated.

Add in the Fallout TV series and even a newly announced Fallout Shelter reality show, and it’s clear the franchise is expanding fast. Remakes/remasters may be coming, but for now, those are in the “long-term plans” category rather than the near future.
