Helldivers 2 Xbox Sales Were Reportedly Better At Start Before PlayStation Took the Lead
Helldivers 2 delivered a strong showing on Xbox at launch, according to new data from Alinea Analytics (via Windows Central). Despite landing much later than the PlayStation version, the game posted faster early sales on Xbox before PlayStation’s larger install base asserted itself over time.
The Xbox release landed roughly 18 months after Helldivers 2 debuted on PlayStation. That gap appears to have created pent-up demand, which translated into an immediate sales spike once the game became available on Xbox Series consoles.
Alinea Analytics estimates that Helldivers 2 sold close to 926,000 copies on Xbox within its first week. By comparison, the PlayStation version sold around 719,000 copies during its own launch window.

That early advantage did not last. Around day eight, cumulative PlayStation sales overtook Xbox and continued to grow at a faster pace. This is in line with typical PlayStation purchasing behavior, where a larger portion of the audience buys in after launch rather than immediately, especially for multiplayer-focused titles.
Longer-term data show a clear install base effect. Across all platforms, Helldivers 2 is estimated to have sold more than 20 million copies. Of that total, PlayStation accounts for roughly 4.3 million units, while Xbox contributes around 1.6 million units.
While smaller in absolute terms, Xbox’s contribution is notable given the delayed release and the platform’s smaller console base. The Xbox version reached those 1.6 million sales within approximately five months, with a U.S. price point of $39.99.
