Windows 11 version 26H1 lifecycle dates confirmed for new Arm PCs
Microsoft has officially outlined the support lifecycle for Windows 11 version 26H1. This specific release is an offshoot built entirely for next generation Arm processors like the upcoming Snapdragon X2 and NVIDIA N1X chips.
If you plan to buy one of these new machines, you will want to know exactly how long Microsoft intends to provide software updates and security patches before forcing a larger system upgrade.
These are the support timeline details
For everyday users running the Home or Pro editions of Windows 11, support for version 26H1 began on February 10, 2026, and will officially end on March 14, 2028. This provides a standard two-year window for consumer devices. Those using Enterprise and Education editions get an extra year.
Their support lifecycle extends until March 13, 2029. Microsoft also confirmed that it will not release an IoT Enterprise edition for this specific version.
Hardware requirements and future upgrades
You cannot simply download version 26H1 as a standard update for your current computer. Microsoft designed this release specifically for the new ARMv9 architecture. The only official way to get it is by purchasing a device with the software preinstalled. The first wave of Snapdragon X2 laptops will launch with 26H1 out of the box starting next month. Eventually, Microsoft plans to bring all users back onto the same software track.
The company expects to merge these specific devices into the mainstream release when version 27H2 launches toward the end of 2027.
