Windows 11 Beta Update KB5079482 Comes with Helpful Network Fixes & More

Microsoft just released a fresh software update for Windows 11 users currently enrolled in the Beta testing channel. The new KB5079482 download officially bumps your operating system version to build 26220.8079.

This specific release focuses entirely on fixing a few annoying bugs related to typing tools and wireless internet connections, rather than adding any major visual changes or new features to your computer.

The update fixes confusing Wi-Fi menus

A key part of this release addresses a strange issue in the network settings. Before this patch, the Network and Sharing Center would sometimes glitch when you changed your wireless connection. It would display two active Wi-Fi networks at the exact same time, even if you just dropped one to connect to the other.

Microsoft corrected this display error. The menu will now accurately show only a single active Wi-Fi connection right after you switch to a new network.

Smoother typing and voice controls

The other fixes deal directly with how you input text. The company has improved the overall stability of the file explorer. The update specifically stopped crashes that happened when people closed the text input flyout window.

It also smoothed out the voice typing tools. If you use the Windows key and H shortcut to speak your sentences out loud, the fluid dictation option is now much more reliable to set up in your main settings menu.

Apart from this build, Microsoft has also released new Windows 11 Canary & Dev Updates, which carry the build numbers KB5081339 & KB5079483, respectively. They bring an all-new Feedback Hub. The new Canary build also brings improved controls while sharing audio with multiple devices.
