EA to Remove Battlefield Hardline From PS4 and Xbox One Stores, Servers Closing Soon

battlefield hardline shutdown

Electronic Arts has confirmed that Battlefield Hardline will soon be removed from digital stores and lose its online features, marking the end of its multiplayer lifecycle more than a decade after release.

Battlefield Hardline delisting and shutdown timeline

As Pure Xbox reports, the 2015 spin-off will be delisted from digital storefronts on May 22, 2026. After that date, players will no longer be able to purchase the game or download additional content.

The shutdown primarily impacts the Xbox One and PlayStation 4 versions, while older Xbox 360 and PS3 editions had already been removed in prior years. The PC version remains unaffected, at least for now.

Servers are going offline in June

Electronic Arts will officially shut down online multiplayer servers on June 22, 2026. This means all online modes and services will become inaccessible.

However, the single-player campaign will remain fully playable, allowing players to revisit the story even after online support ends.

EA Play and Game Pass impact

Currently, Battlefield Hardline is still available through EA Play, which is included with Xbox Game Pass Ultimate and PC Game Pass.

Once delisted, access may depend on subscription availability, but new players will no longer be able to purchase the game outright after May.

The move reflects a broader industry pattern where publishers gradually retire older multiplayer titles. Maintaining servers for aging games often becomes unsustainable, especially as player populations decline.

Elsewhere in the gaming world, Crimson Desert has seen its Steam reviews shift to mostly positive following a major patch. Meanwhile, Call of Duty: Black Ops 7 continues to perform strongly despite ongoing player criticism.

Sony has also taken action against low-quality content, reportedly removing hundreds of AI-generated shovelware titles from the PlayStation Store.
