Microsoft Added These New Features to Excel in March 2026
With March 2026 behind us, it’s time to share the key updates Microsoft rolled out for Excel users. Last month, the company released three major updates. Among them, the headline feature is Edit with Copilot, which is now powered by Work IQ context.
The feature allows Copilot to automatically pull relevant information from emails, meetings, chats, and files, helping it execute multi-step edits that reflect the latest work context. As of March, users with a Microsoft 365 Copilot license can take advantage of this smarter editing tool.
The update also brings expanded language support, ensuring Copilot can assist in all standard supported languages. Additionally, Claude Opus 4.6 is now available in the model selector for users with M365 Premium or enterprise Copilot licenses, offering more options for advanced AI-driven editing.
Microsoft further updated the Office Scripts interface to make automation more approachable. The redesign helps users find, create, manage, and share scripts faster, whether they are beginners or experienced in advanced automations. The new UI focuses on clarity and consistency, reducing hassle for anyone automating repetitive Excel tasks.
Last but not least, Excel Web now includes a faster way to locate files. Users can type directly into the search bar on the homepage, and matching Word, Excel, or PowerPoint files appear immediately in a drop-down list. This change eliminates the need to manually scan the homepage for documents, streamlining the workflow for those who manage many files online.
