Samsung Magician Crashes and Fails to Detect SSDs on Windows 11
Windows 11 users recently reported being locked out of the C drive due to “Access denied” errors. Microsoft confirmed that the issue was caused by the Samsung Connect app, which triggered permission problems on affected systems.
The company has since worked with Samsung to resolve the bug, and official fixes are now available. Users can apply the latest updates or follow Microsoft’s recovery steps to regain access.
Samsung Magician v9.0.0 brings new problems
While the C drive issue is being resolved, another Samsung tool is causing trouble. According to user reports highlighted by Neowin, Samsung Magician version 9.0.0 has been failing on many systems since late 2025.
Users report that the app often refuses to launch or crashes immediately. In some cases, the interface suffers from scaling issues, making text unreadable or misaligned.
Other reports mention that SSDs are not detected properly, drive health data is missing, and overall SSD performance appears reduced after installing the update.
Security fix complicates downgrade options
Despite the problems, version 9.0.0 remains important because it patches a high-severity vulnerability tracked as CVE-2025-57836. The flaw could allow DLL hijacking through the installer, making older versions less secure.
This puts users in a difficult position, as reverting to a previous version may expose systems to security risks, while staying on 9.0.0 may result in functionality issues.
Samsung releases Magician v9.0.1.950
Samsung has released a newer update, version 9.0.1.950, which focuses on improving UI and overall user experience. However, it remains unclear whether this update fully resolves the deeper issues affecting SSD detection and performance.
With multiple Samsung-related problems surfacing on Windows 11, users may need to stay updated with both Microsoft patches and Samsung software updates to avoid disruptions.
