Roblox Studio Gets Planning Mode AI and Automated Playtesting Tools
Planning Mode introduces a smarter, step-by-step approach to building games
Roblox is expanding its platform with new AI-driven tools designed to simplify game creation while also rolling out improved parental controls. The company is now focusing on multi-step AI collaboration to help developers build, test, and refine experiences more efficiently.
Planning Mode AI turns prompts into full game plans
At the center of the update is a new feature called Planning Mode, an agentic AI system integrated into Roblox Studio. It converts simple text prompts into detailed game design documents and breaks projects into structured, step-by-step development plans that creators can follow or adjust.
The system analyzes existing code and data models to improve accuracy and relevance. It also asks clarifying questions before generating output, allowing developers to refine ideas early and maintain control over how their projects evolve.
AI agents can execute tasks in parallel
Roblox is also introducing a system where multiple AI agents can work simultaneously on different parts of a project. These agents follow structured plans generated by Planning Mode and help speed up development by handling tasks in parallel rather than sequentially.
This marks a shift away from one-off AI prompts toward a more collaborative workflow, where developers and AI systems iterate together throughout the creation process.
Playtesting Agent automates quality assurance
Another major addition is the Playtesting Agent, currently available in beta. This tool acts as an automated QA tester by simulating player behavior and analyzing how a game performs under different scenarios.
It reads logs, evaluates systems, and identifies potential issues in gameplay or performance. Over time, it can support self-correcting development loops, helping creators refine their games without relying heavily on manual testing.
Roblox hints at procedural AI asset generation
Roblox has also outlined plans for future AI tools focused on procedural asset generation. These tools aim to create gameplay objects using AI and allow developers to scale or adjust them directly within the game world.
This direction suggests a broader effort to reduce manual asset creation while still giving creators flexibility over design and customization.
Focus on multi-step AI collaboration
Roblox emphasizes that its new AI features move beyond single-output generation. The platform now focuses on iterative development, continuous feedback, and better alignment with creator intent, making the tools useful for both beginners and experienced developers.
In related developments, physical editions of Red Dead Redemption for PlayStation 5 and the rumored Switch 2 have reportedly leaked. At the same time, a remake of Assassin’s Creed Black Flag was recently spotted in a launcher listing, pointing toward a possible announcement in the near future.
