KB5083769 Bug Leaves Some Windows 11 PCs Stuck in Endless Recovery Loop
Uninstalling the latest update works as a temporary workaround
Microsoft has just addressed major Patch Tuesday issues with an emergency update, but a new problem has already surfaced. The latest Windows 11 update, KB5083769, is now causing serious boot failures for some users.
Users report “death loop” after installing update
According to reports on Microsoft Learn Q&A, several users encounter a “death loop” after installing KB5083769. Affected systems fail to boot properly and repeatedly enter recovery mode.
Users describe seeing a pixelated “mosaic” screen before being redirected to a blue recovery screen. From there, devices get stuck in an endless boot or automatic repair loop.
Systems fail to boot, businesses also impacted
The issue prevents systems from loading into Windows entirely. In some cases, even the recovery environment becomes unusable, making troubleshooting more difficult.
Reports mention affected devices such as HP Pavilion 590-p0044 and certain Dell desktops. Some companies also confirm multiple machines experiencing the same failure.
Workarounds exist, but not for all users
A few users managed to fix the issue by uninstalling the latest quality update. This workaround restores system functionality in less severe cases.
However, when the recovery environment breaks, users cannot access standard repair options. That leaves limited paths to recovery without external tools.
Possible AMD link, but no confirmation yet
Early reports suggest the issue may affect AMD-based systems more frequently. Still, Microsoft has not confirmed any hardware-specific cause.
The root cause remains unclear, and the company has not issued an official statement or fix so far.
This isn’t the only problem tied to recent updates. Some users also report unexpected BitLocker recovery prompts after installation. At the same time, Microsoft has rolled out WinRE Dynamic Updates and pushed KB5083769 to the Media Creation Tool.
