Microsoft Flight Simulator 2024 World Update 22 Launches July 4 With 30+ US Landmarks
Microsoft Flight Simulator 2024 received a new spotlight during the XBOX Games Showcase 2026, where Microsoft unveiled World Update 22, a major content expansion focused on some of the most iconic landscapes in the United States.
Take Flight Across America’s Most Iconic Natural Wonders
The update launches on July 4, fitting perfectly with its American theme. World Update 22 celebrates the country’s National Parks and National Monuments, bringing more than 30 new locations to the simulator and giving virtual pilots new opportunities to explore some of America’s most famous natural wonders.
According to the trailer shown during the showcase, players will be able to fly over and explore landmarks including the Grand Canyon, Yellowstone National Park, Yosemite National Park, Mount Rainier, Death Valley, Zion National Park, Bryce Canyon, Mount Rushmore, and the Great Smoky Mountains. While Microsoft only showcased part of the full lineup, the company confirmed that more than 30 locations are included in the update.
The update also introduces the legendary Goodyear blimp, adding another recognizable piece of American aviation history to the skies of Microsoft Flight Simulator 2024.
A New Air Racing Expansion Is Coming This Fall
Microsoft also used the showcase to tease another major content update arriving later this year. The upcoming National Championship Air Races expansion will bring players to New Mexico and introduce competitive air racing events to the simulator.
While details remain limited, the brief teaser suggests Microsoft intends to continue expanding the game beyond sightseeing experiences by introducing new gameplay-focused activities.
While the surprise XBOX Series X25 giveaway grabbed plenty of headlines during the event, Microsoft Flight Simulator fans also walked away with a substantial new content update to look forward to this summer.
