Windows 11 and Windows 10 Users Hit by Blank White Window Issue
Some Windows users are reporting a blank white window that appears in the top-left corner of the screen after starting or unlocking their PC.
The window can cover a large part of the desktop and block interaction with anything behind it. In some cases, it disappears after a few seconds, but affected users say the behavior can still interrupt normal use.
Windows 11 and Windows 10 Users Report Blank White Window Issue
The issue does not appear limited to one Windows version. Users have reported it on both Windows 11 and Windows 10.
It also does not seem tied to one specific hardware setup. Reports mention both Intel and AMD systems, and the problem does not appear linked to a single GPU vendor.
That suggests the bug may come from a background software component rather than a specific processor, graphics card, or Windows configuration.
Google Chrome Task Scheduler Component Suspected
According to user reports on Reddit, the blank white window may connect to a Google Chrome background component.
The suspected folder appears in Windows Task Scheduler under GoogleUserPEH. The task reportedly involved is called RunPlatformExperienceHelperOnUnlock.
This component seems related to Chrome background activity, which may include interactions with extensions, plugins, update tasks, or external components.
However, Google has not officially confirmed that this task causes the blank window issue.
Possible Workaround for the Blank White Window
Some users say they stopped the blank white window by disabling the suspected Chrome task in Task Scheduler.
The suggested steps are to open Task Scheduler, navigate to the GoogleUserPEH folder, select RunPlatformExperienceHelperOnUnlock, and disable it.
Users claim this prevents the blank white window from appearing after unlocking or starting the PC.
Users Should Treat the Fix Carefully
The workaround has not received official confirmation from Google or Microsoft. That means users should treat it as a temporary fix rather than a guaranteed solution.
It remains unclear whether Google’s task directly causes the issue, or whether another Windows or Chrome interaction triggers the blank window.
In other Chrome news, Google’s browser might soon add a built-in voice typing feature. A malicious Perplexity AI Chrome extension has also been removed from the Chrome Web Store.
