Mexican Steamy Thriller 'Desire' Gets Netflix Release Date; Check Cast & Plot
Alongside major originals arriving this month, Netflix has now confirmed the release of Desire, a new Mexican thriller movie that blends forbidden romance, psychological suspense, and family drama into one explosive story. The film premieres globally on July 17, giving thriller fans another reason to keep Netflix on their watchlist this month.
A forbidden affair quickly spirals out of control
According to Netflix’s official synopsis, Desire follows a successful married lawyer whose life begins to unravel after she starts an affair with her daughter’s swim coach. What begins as a passionate romance soon turns into a dangerous psychological game where trust disappears, secrets surface, and nearly everyone involved pays the price.
Netflix is marketing the film as a steamy, suspenseful thriller centered around obsession and betrayal rather than a traditional romance. Leading the cast is Ludwika Paleta, joined by José María Yazpik and Óscar Casas. The film is directed by Teresa Simone and marks another major Mexican original movie joining Netflix’s expanding international catalog.
Unlike some recent Netflix thrillers inspired by real-life events, Desire is a fictional story and is not based on a true story. Instead, it leans into emotional tension, complicated relationships, and mystery, making it one of the platform’s biggest adult-oriented releases this month.
That being said, Desire enters a packed July lineup that already includes Enola Holmes 3, Hamnet, The Hawk, and 72 Hours. If Netflix’s trailer is anything to go by, the service could have another international thriller ready to capture audiences looking for something darker than the usual summer blockbuster.
