Tony Hawk’s Pro Skater 1+2 was unexpectedly removed from the XBOX Game Pass release schedule because of a licensing issue, Microsoft has confirmed.

The game originally appeared among the first wave of XBOX Game Pass additions planned for July 2026. However, Microsoft quietly removed it from the schedule less than a week before its expected arrival.

The change caused confusion among players, especially because Microsoft owns Activision, the publisher behind the Tony Hawk series.

Licensing Issue Delayed the Game Pass Release

According to Jez Corden, Microsoft confirmed that a licensing problem caused the last-minute removal.

The company reportedly still plans to add Tony Hawk’s Pro Skater 1+2 to XBOX Game Pass once it resolves the issue. Microsoft has not announced a revised release date.

This means the game has likely suffered a delay rather than a permanent cancellation.

Licensed Soundtrack May Be the Problem

Microsoft has not revealed which license prevented the Game Pass launch.

However, the issue may involve the game’s licensed soundtrack. Tony Hawk’s Pro Skater 1+2 features music from several artists, and Microsoft may need to renegotiate certain rights before offering the title through its subscription service.

Music licensing often creates availability problems for digital games. Agreements can expire or contain restrictions that affect how publishers distribute games through subscription platforms.

Microsoft has not officially confirmed that the soundtrack caused the delay.

When Will Tony Hawk’s Pro Skater 1+2 Join Game Pass?

There is currently no indication of when Tony Hawk’s Pro Skater 1+2 will arrive on XBOX Game Pass.

Players will need to wait for Microsoft to resolve the licensing problem and announce a new release date.

Tony Hawk’s Pro Skater 3+4 is already available through the service.

In other news, XBOX has added 52 titles to its Stream Your Own Game library, while the latest XBOX Free Play Days lineup has also been revealed.
