Microsoft Restores Windows Services After Major Azure Outage

A Microsoft Azure outage disrupted Windows Update, Microsoft Store, Microsoft Teams, and other services on July 23, 2026. Users reported download failures, delays, and timeouts before Microsoft restored the affected systems.

Azure Outage Affects Microsoft Services

The outage affected several Microsoft and Windows services, including Windows Update, the Microsoft Update Catalog, Microsoft Store, Windows Server Update Services, and Microsoft Teams.

Some users could not access or download content, while others experienced unusually long loading times and failed update requests.

The disruption also affected organizations that rely on WSUS to distribute Windows updates across managed devices.

Microsoft Redirects Traffic

Microsoft confirmed the incident at approximately 11:15 AM PST. The company redirected traffic and performed additional recovery actions to restore access to the affected services.

Microsoft advised users to retry failed Windows Update, Microsoft Store, and related operations later while engineers worked on the problem.

Microsoft Resolves Azure Outage

Microsoft confirmed that it had resolved the outage at approximately 1:45 PM PST, around two and a half hours after acknowledging the disruption.

Windows Update downloads returned to normal, while Microsoft restored functionality for the Update Catalog, Microsoft Store, Teams, and WSUS.

No Active Issues Reported

Microsoft’s Azure and Microsoft 365 service health pages reported no active incidents following the recovery.

However, Microsoft continued to list the outage in the Windows Release Health history as a resolved issue.

In other news, Microsoft got LG to remove a McAfee pop-up from its Monitor App, while the company also launched MAI-Image-2.5-Pro and MAI-Voice-2-Flash.
